Over the last six months Clever Energy Midlands have been working closely with Manchester-based Greener Home Projects. Since 2019 GHP have been at the forefront of delivering the improvement of home energy efficiency through energy company backed initiatives the ECO 4 scheme, and most recently the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS), introduced by Rishi Sunak in 2023.

GHP help homeowners, private tenants and landlords’ access fully funded energy-saving improvements, such as insulation, heating upgrades, and solar panel installations for their properties. Their services help to increase the energy efficiency of homes across the UK, thus homeowners to lower their energy bills, this all being fully funded for eligible homeowners.

 Supporting the ECO4 Scheme

Clever Energy Midlands assists GHP by helping homeowners in accessing fully funded energy-efficiency improvements by handling everything from eligibility assessments to arranging no obligation surveys. The ECO 4 scheme, is aimed at improving the least energy efficient homes (EPCs of D E, F & G), and households in fuel poverty. GHP can offer a range of energy efficiency upgrades such as insulation, heating systems, and renewable technologies like solar panels.

To qualify for ECO 4 funding there are certain criteria that must be met. For fully funded efficiency measures to be installed, you need to be a homeowner with an EPC rating of D-G or no EPC at all and someone in your household must be in receipt of means tested qualifying benefits such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit, or Job Seekers Allowance. If not receiving benefits, households may still qualify under the ECO 4 flex scheme, to qualify for this, the combined household income has to be below £31,000. Clever Energy Midlands will be able to let you know if we’re currently working with your local authority to deliver ECO 4 Flex. Also, those with certain long term health conditions can also qualify under the ECO 4 flex scheme, those conditions being as Respiratory, Cardiovascular or limited mobility, again both Clever Energy Midlands and Greener Home Projects will be able to confirm on eligibility.

• Energy Assessments: GHP conducts initial surveys to determine eligibility for ECO4 funding, examining both the properties energy efficiency, as well as determining the householders eligibility through the ECO 4 or ECO 4 flex schemes.
